On The House. |
|
Got myself down to VJC Openhouse this morning. Met up with Yanling outside school. The welcoming committee was as usual....enthusiastic. There was this gal giving high-fives to ppl, too agressive in my opinion...haha. Could see the stunned looks on some visitors' faces. Got past the 12-15 head strong committee and past the school gate.
Met Xinying and Lihuan at the foyer, then got lead by Mr Tang to the container blocks. Guided tour, although poor Mr Tang was having a sore throat. Haha, he works too hard man.
The works were on the overall fabulous. (Apologies for lack of pics, the next paragraph can be skipped by casual readers)
Really like the way my black cloth and the lighting complemented Angela's piece Red Desert. Could see the texture and the shadows really really well, feeling was great. Pamela's piece was also just fantastic, bathed in the four spotlights we used. Haha, most of the people who looked at the piece couldn't believe it was done in pastels.. Next room was Candy, Esther and Tzeqi's works. Lighting was nicely done once again. Candy's butterflies were suspended in a dreamlike motion just above our heads (think I knocked into one on the way in ahha). Ambience was not bad. Esther's storybook was really well done. I really liked the details put into the scenes. And Tzeqi's t-shirts were real good. Think I got a job offer for u after ur A's haha. The rest of the corporate identity package was not too bad either. Upstairs was Delian and Claire's pieces. Delian's piece made use of an ingenious combi of paint on acrylic sheet and layering of symbols onto depictions of scenes. Good idea. And Claire's paintings coupled with the lighting gave me a feeling that the figures were gonna pop outa the pics. Interesting visual illusion. Kudos! Fangyang's piece was at the bottom of the spiral staircase near LT5. Cool piece involving looking up through this dome and at the chandeliers. And so I must say I'm v proud of this batch of juniors, like Mr Tang said, they're prob the strongest batch comparatively.
Got treated to lunch by Liu lao shi. We (Yanling, Xinying, Lihuan and me) ta-paoed lunch up to the art rm. Memeories of the good old days we would work and eat at the same time. Haha and Lihuan didn't even use a styrofoam box, he just brought the whole darn plate up, hilarious haha. Yanling left for class after that, and i hung around with the rest of them fiddling with Google Earth (Xinying was trying to locate her house) till about 4pm where they left.
Went down to the container blocks were the yr1s were already helping to take down the pieces and restore the classrms to their original state. Joined in and spent till about 6pm doing that, hard work haha.
Went out for dinner with Mr Tang and the yr2s. Food Republic(new food court) at Wisma Atria lvl 4. Cool place with v cheena/nostalgic look. Had a v filling dinner and got treated to some food too. Got a ride back from Mr Tang aft that.
What a day...tmr's gonna be restful.
