Highlight of the moment: Fireworks at Marina Bay
This week's been rather lazy so far. Monday was NDP eve and so didn't exactly do much besdies being involved in camp's internal observance ceremony. Was the flag bearer for the state flag, didn't screw up yay! Supposed to go for a visit to the NDP Carnival by the unit but ended up stayin in camp due to a VIP visit.
Yesterday was National Day, decided to go visit my buddies at the carnival again. Reached just in time for the 2pm show, and once again stayed till everything ended. Supposed to meet Aaron at 3pm for a ground recce for the fireworks photo-session but he ended up oversleeping.
The rest(Yitchun, Jieyong n Peikee) met up at city hall at 5pm and made their way here, but had a bit of prob trying to locate Aaron and me. Found a spot near the sundial, then realized I had totally no idea of where the fireworks were gonna come from. Fortunately this v kind Caucasian auntie went to ask the police officers on patrol and we more or less had a vague idea that we were in the middle of the 2 firing points. Prob was info given was that it would come from the left at 8pm, and then from the right at 9pm. The real thing was that at 8.15pm, the fireworks exploded on BOTH sides of us. How very nice, especially when the side I was focusing on got blocked by trees. Ended up swivelling my whole setup to the other side with a clearer view and managed to salvage a few shots. The 2nd round caught us totally off guard and I was munching tru my dinner (tapao-ed mushroom swiss) when the whole sky just lit up. Mad a frantic dash to turn on my camera and started clicking wildly. Sighzz.
Walked up and along Nichole Highway after that down to Suntec area. Decided to pop by Marina Square for toilet, food and drinks. A stroll led us to the pool area and ended up playing a few games. Left around 10.45pm and thankfully the bus services had resumed by then.
Today's been rather lazy. Did practically nothing in camp,and got a half day off, however staying in tonight as I got dumped yet another insane task for tmr. I'm supposed to set off for water-point setting up at Tekong early in the morning. How early u ask? Time of set-off from camp is 4.30am. Yes you heard it right. So, not wanting to disturb my family by waking up in the middle of the night, and incurring incredible midnight charges for my taxi fare, the only choice is to stay in. Not that I won't have company, 3 of the other RPs are on duty today too. Haha.
Oh well, til tmr, hope I get a half day again or something to that extent. I think I'll be a walking zombie tmr.....zzzzz. Ok, nitez ppl! (too early)
