Processes, and quirks of being a filmmaker. |
|
Just survived the first proper processed, controlled film shoot. Working in a group is fun, but I guess it takes certain skill to manage people and urge people to do their job while maintaining your composure (haha).
Perhaps its coz the first shoot I did was only semi-controlled, I had my reservations about how the whole process had to be tightly monitored and etc (pre, production and post). But I guess these systems do have their own use, to ensure a certain result, and to help you sort out your life on large-scale productions. Like Joseph was saying "after some time of getting used to the system, you'll start to feel uncomfortable if someone comes along and does things in another way"
Shooting makes me forget time, forget myself. In fact whenever I'm engaged in Art, or most kinds of work, I tend to banish all metaphysical thoughts. Must be the workaholic in me. Maybe I like the kinda numb feeling?
Now worrying about Art History quiz tmr, eeks. Wonder what kinda trajectory should I undertake to plough through the notes..(or lack of them)
Come to me ye stories...perhaps I should go on a little photo-excursion this weekend to seek ideas. Jonathan's right, photos do inspire me (as they do to him). It is tru the capturing of a still moment that we seek to find out more about the story behind the calm, the quiet, the static. The dynamism that lies beneath, what happened before/after?
I should bring my camera out.
